Amniomancy

It is curious method of divination by means of the amniotic membrane that sometimes covers the head of a baby at birth.

The interpretations of the color of this membrane vary depending on the traditions of each town.

For example, some people say that if it is red, the newborn will have a happy life, and if it has no color, the opposite fate awaits him/her. However, in other traditions the colors vary.

There is a popular saying in Spain for those who are fortunate in life; they say the individual was “born dressed” (“nació vestido”), which originated precisely from this method of divination.

It is a method of divination which has virtually disappeared in almost all cultures.
