Belomancy

An ancient method of divination that involved the shooting of arrows.

Phrases would be written on the arrows, for example “God forbids it me”; “God orders it me”’ and some arrows were also left blank. The arrows were then drawn and shot, one at a time, and were afterward inspected to see which one had answered the query.

 In other cultures it was the flight of the arrow that was observed and interpreted to find the answer to the query.

This mancy was in much use in the Turk, Chaldean, Egyptian and Hittite cultures.
