Bibliomancy

Also known as Stichomancy.

Depending on the culture of study, one or another way of practice is usually seen.

Some cultures used the Bible to determine a person’s guilt or innocence. A balance scale was used to weigh the person against the Bible. If the Bible was lighter, then the person was considered guilty.

Other cultures would take any book worthy of trust by the inquirer and would open it at a random page and read the first paragraph.
