Some herbs are used in occultism to purify, clean and/or preserve a particular place, or those who dwell in it, from negative energies, bad influences, jealousy, negative spirits, witchcraft, etc..
- Oriental Sweetgum: Creates openness to energy, helping thus the will for personal, economic, and emotional improvement.
- Smearwort: Cuts all ties a woman has with a man (the seeds are used).
- Mugwort: Counters spells. It drives away negative entities.
- Benzoin: Drives away negative entities and attracts positive ones.
- Cinnamon: Attracts love and the loved one to you.
- White Dittany: Stimulates clairvoyance and psychic power.
- Black Nightshade: Counters, invalidates, and destroys larvae working in the astral plane. We use the berries of this plant together with myrtle branches to clean.
- Incense: A means of purification and cleanser par excellence. It attracts highly positive and beneficial energy.
- Bay Laurel: Drives away negative entities. Promotes family harmony (only 3 leaves are used).
- Myrrh: Keeps negative energy away and attracts the positive kind. It is part of the sacred incense.
- Rosemary: It attracts the elements of nature.
- Common Rue: Eliminates envy and bad influences.
- Sandalwood: Stimulates the person in their creativity and at work. Fosters new ideas and ventures. Attracts customers.
These herbs are burned over small coals; the smoke is spread all over, as a ritual accompanied by a request and a prayer of thanks.
This art should not be practiced without proper awareness of what is being done, nor indiscriminately.
When we burn herbs, we invoke higher forces to give us their support, so the goal must be noble and truly necessary.
