Major Arcana
The Hanged Man:
This is one of most mysterious tarot cards.
It presents a great deal of duality, since while it is simple, it has a complex side to it; although it attracts, it is at the same time not very attractive. This is why it is said that it is very contradictory and symbolizes the paradox that arises in our lives in many occasions.
It is a card that presents truths but with opposing messages hidden within.
The Hanged Man indicates that we want to take action, but we’ll have to wait to do it. This contradiction will help us find what we seek. In terms of romance, it means that the situation will remain very stable over the following months.
The Hanged Man, right-side-up, also represents personal sacrifice, rebirth, situations that are difficult to get out of, search for and solution to a problem; when inverted, it may symbolize death by accident, unjust accusations, and projects that fall apart.
The keywords for this card are: sacrifice, heroism, renunciation, initiation, and atonement.
If it appears next to The Devil, it means risk of madness; if it is next to The Sun, it points to unexpected luck, and if it is next to The Tower, a disease.
The Hanged Man bears an astrological relation to Taurus.
