bulletWiccan Principles

  1. One of these is the Wiccan Rede (please, see the Rede), and it can be summarized in the following words: “An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will".
  1. The actions of a Wiccan should be guided by this principle. We must take into consideration the consequences of our actions. This principle is directly related to the Rule of Three or Law of Return: “Everything you do you will be returned by three-fold” (either bad or good).

  1. Take responsibility for yourself and for your actions. A Wiccan must take responsibility for his or her own actions. If you are responsible for your actions, therefore, if a wrong is committed, it is your fault and nobody else’s; you cannot blame others.
  1. Constant Evolution. A Wiccan must use the lessons learned to improve on a path of spiritual evolution. You must improve personally and try to improve your training, at the same time showing respect for nature and everything around us, and allowing this respect to be increasingly extended.
  1. Harmony. The purpose of our rituals is to be in harmony with the Divine in any of its three aspects, either the Himself Divine, the Universe, or the Gods. We see the consequences of the Divine in Himself as the ethics of responsibility: we, and only we, are responsible for our actions, our bodies, and our minds.

Thus, we perform rituals to be in harmony with this aspect, with this divine spark that we share with the rest of the Universe. Which brings us to the point that the universe itself is Divine, whether we consider the Earth as a single large living organism, or every individual creature, plant, and rock as having a part of this divine spirit, or the divine laws of the Universe.

Each of these aspects of Divinity has a greater or lesser degree of acceptance, among the various traditions, and based on these, rituals are held as a unit or within each subgroup separately.

The methods of being in harmony with each varies: it may be dancing, singing, dancing, meditation, contemplation, or ritual, depending on our disposition. Also, simple acts such as daily tasks, may become small rituals if done with proper awareness.

All of this helps us, to be in harmony with each of these aspects of the Divinity.
